Our staff are essential to the smooth running of our organisation and are also the heart and soul of what we do. We carefully find the best people that we can to make sure that our core values are delivered in the original way that we wanted them to be delivered. No compromise will be made.
Maggie is the founder of Families in Trauma and Recovery, and felt impelled to try to fill a gap in what she experienced when facing difficult family trauma, and there seemed to be no where to turn at that point. For her, lived experience and peer support were literally "superpowers" that should be tapped into and used not only for personal benefit but for the sake of anyone else facing really challenging times. Maggie's background is as a community filmmaker, so is also passionate about using digital when it serves a valuable purpose. But laterally she combined those skills with setting up this social enterprise which has been a huge learning curve. However, as "Building Alliance, not Compliance" is the motto - Maggie is determine to make sure this "way of being" is taken forward in all the organisation does.

Steve was one of the founding members of Families in Trauma and Recovery due to his own experience with family trauma. He brings his significant qualifications and experience to the role of digital video , audio and technical officer. As well as technical skills required for the role, it also takes real awareness in being able to sensitively record others stories without re-traumatising the person. Steve has been involved in helping with the digital facilitation of peer training, eCPR training, podcasting and capturing events for us. This is invaluable in a world that devours social media, and also a valuable way that our organisation will continue to move forward. We are very glad to have these skills available within our organisation as it is a hard combination to find.
Jax was one of our first employees coming from the role of volunteering and working on placement with us initially, then being ready to step into the role of peer practitioner. Jax brings lots of compassion and empathy to this role and also generously draws on her significant lived experience in compassionately supporting others as they navigate their own journeys. Jax has been instrumental in helping develop some of the tools and training we now include in our delivery so has been a great asset to the team.
Katie has been a valuable member of our team since joining us on our trauma sensitive Peer2Peer training , as well as being an active participant in the emotional CPR training too. She has worked as a volunteer with us and been on placement to gain as many skills as she can to continue her journey into peer support. Katie has had her own unique journey into peer support, and bring lots of lived experience to share with others when appropriate. Her digital and social media skills have been very helpful on more than one occasion and she is a real asset to our team.
Lisa is one of our dedicated team of peer practitioners and is passionate about supporting others individually and as families. She has her own unique experiences that she draws from and it makes her a really compassionate peer worker.
Please get in touch if you have any questions. We are more than happy to help in any way we can.
